Global Warming

FIRES started deliberately and wholesale logging, particularly in Indonesia and Brazil, have caused massive deforestation. Half the world's rainforest, described as the lungs of the planet, has already been destroyed. Wildlife is on the run, with many species of animal now on the verge of extinction.

FLOODS are increasingly headline news, causing thousands of deaths worldwide. The dead forests are now subject to soil erosion: millions of tonnes of topsoil from these areas are causing blockages in rivers and reservoirs. Deforestation is also blamed for the devastating land slides which have engulfed whole communities in various parts of the world.

STORMS, record breaking tornadoes and tidal waves are now occurring with increasing frequency in some parts of the world, while other parts suffer prolonged droughts and unbearably high temperatures. Global warming is now accepted as scientific fact and is causing perceptible changes in the earth's weather patterns.

POLLUTION in the air we breathe, in the water we drink and the food we eat has reached alarming levels. Persistent organic pollutants have saturated the food chain causing serious health threats to ourselves and future generations. In some parts of the world mothers' breast milk is deemed too toxic to be fed to their babies. Pollution also causes acid rain which destroys vast tracts of forest and further contaminates water sources.

At this rate the Earth will soon become uninhabitable

On the horizon there are signs for those
